FAQ

questions about rooms and table top games

Q: What are mobile units?

A: Our Mobile units are 30-foot trailers split into two escape rooms each. We currently have two mobile units, each of which has two rooms:

  • Tomb of the Pharaoh and Sunken Submarine
  • Runaway Train and The Portal

Q: What are Tabletop escape games?

A: Not to be confused with Escape Mail (which is also played on a table), our table top games are large-scale escape rooms-style props set up on a table which hold clues and mysteries and will challenge even the sharpest of minds. Often the objective is to open or unlock a compartment, hatch or lid of some kind, requiring several steps and smaller challenges. We currently offer two different experiences:

Q: How much does it cost?

A: For the mobile units: $395 for up to 1 hour of escape time (Max of 24 participants). The runtime usually is approximately 1.25-1.5 hours long to account for instruction and resetting rooms. $575 for up to 2 hours of escape time (Max of 48 participants). The runtime usually is approximately 2.25-2.5 hours long to account for instruction and resetting rooms between groups. If you require more than 1-2 hours, please contact us for more pricing information. Not sure how much time you'll need? See more information in questions below.

For the table tops: $575 for up to 2 hours, $795 for up to 4 hours, $1150 for a full day

Q: How long does it take to do each room / table top game?

For the Rooms: 15 to 30-minute escape times per room (dictated by the length of booking and number of participants) For example:

  • If you have 12 or less participants, everyone will get to do the 30-minute version of both rooms. They will have 30 minutes to escape the first room, once they are done, we reset the rooms and then they swap sides.
  • If you have 13-18 participants, everyone will get to do the 20-minute version of both rooms. Two teams will be playing while the third team stands by. Then they rotate through.
  • If you have 19-24 participants, everyone will get to do the 15-minute version of both rooms. Two teams will be playing while the other two teams stand by. Everyone rotates after the first two teams are done, and repeat until everyone does both rooms.

For Table Tops: Very similar to the above, length/difficulty can be adapted for 10-30 minute escape times per room depending on your party size and length of booking.

Q: How difficult are the rooms / table tops, and can my child solve them?

The difficulty level of each room is adapted to be an appropriate challenge for anyone from ages 6+ to seasoned escape room experts. We will adjust the room difficulty based on the participants about to solve it.

Q: How many can play a room at once?

A: Maximum group sizes of 6 per room / table top, or 12 per mobile unit.

Q: How long should I book the room for?

A: It depends on the size of the group, 12 people can be playing simultaneously, 6 per room, based on that:

  • 1 hour can have a maximum of 24 participants, if they play the 15 minute version
  • 2 hours can have a maximum of 48 participants, if they play the 15 minute version

If you want to play the longer / harder versions of the rooms, adjust the time accordingly.

For the table tops it is pretty much same as above with the addition of an optional 10-minute long game.

Q: How much space do I need for the mobile unit?

A: We need 80 feet of space to park the truck and trailer on relatively flat ground. Typically parking on the street in front of the house works best. We also need to be within 100 feet of an electrical outlet to plug into, or for an extra fee we can bring a generator. For team building/ corporate/school events, a parking lot with at least 7-8 stalls is required.

Q: How much space do I need for the table top?

A: Our footprint is usually 10'x10' and we need at least a 2'x 6' table to run it on (which we can bring, please mention this in an email upon booking request) and we will need an electrical outlet we can plug in to.

Q: I live outside of Calgary. Do I have to pay extra?

A: For locations outside city limits a travel fee applies - $1.50/km travelled outside Calgary City Limits.

Q: It's cold outside. Are the rooms heated?

A: Our rooms are heated by a 40,000 BTU furnace. This ensures that the air in the escape rooms stays warm down to -30 degrees Celcius. For the rare days that are -30 or below we cancel bookings for safety and funcationality reasons. Note, that when the temperature is between -15 and -30 the floor of the escape room is still cold and requires warm footwear.
